Talib I. Karim, Esq., Executive Director
Talib Ibn Karim is the co-founder of STEM4US!, an impactful non-profit dedicated to eradicating youth violence through STEM education and mentoring. The organization has launched a $15 million campaign to fund STEM-based violence intervention programs across the country, starting in Washington, D.C., and Memphis, TN. Over the last decade, STEM4US! has trained thousands of students and parents. Moreover, the organization has impacted millions through its advocacy that contributed to a boost of over $100M to schools, colleges, and universities.
Talib also serves as the Chief Legal Officer for Abe Legal, a legal tech company that builds Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other software for law firms, corporations, and law schools. In addition, Abe Legal streamlines the connection between families, small businesses, nonprofits, and seasoned attorneys nationwide, making high-quality legal assistance as accessible as ordering an Uber.
Under his leadership, Abe Legal helped Muslim business-owners and professionals in Memphis launch a new chamber of commerce. The organization seeks to both boost the wealth of its members and support programs of STEM4US! and other nonprofits to solve youth violence.
Previously, Talib worked as the Legislative Director and Chief Technology Counsel for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee. As a veteran, Talib had the distinct honor of serving as a senior disabilities oversight counsel with the House Veterans Affairs Committee where he helped lead the digital transformation of the VA’s benefit claims system.
Talib has taught as a professor at Bowie State University and Bay Atlantic University. Talib’s coursework focused on cybersecurity law, labor, employment, electronic banking, online business enterprises, e-banking, and other business related issues. In addition, Talib has advised companies and nonprofits on lobbying, political fundraising, and voter mobilization to influence local and national policy.
Talib’s educational journey began at the U.S. Air Force Academy, later transferring to Howard University where he earned degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Law.
Deeply rooted in a family of advocates, Talib’s passion for justice and community service is inspired by his late parents. His father, Dr. Talib Karim Muhammad, was an aide to civil rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr who went on to become an Imam, a media influencer, and Memphis City Council Member. His mother, Dr. Linah Karim Muhammad, was a pioneer in STEM education, developing innovative curricula to help parents teach their own children computer science, starting as early as two years old.
