What is STEM4US!
STEM4US! is a non-profit organization formed to support colleges, universities, and K-12 schools along with afterschool programs, parents and advocates in training students in STEM. Realizing our nation's shortage in IT workers, as an organization, we have a specific focus on ramping up the numbers and diversity of our country's cybersecurity, data analytics, and artificial intelligence workforce.
History
In December 2012, the White House set a goal to expand STEM grads by 1 million over 10 years (2022)
STEM4US! was launched weeks later, in January of 2013
Since our founding, STEM4US! has become a nationally recognized voice for STEM through our Capitol Hill STEM Power Lunch TM series and other initiatives
STEM4US! hosted its first STEM and Education festival in 2014 in partnership with Pepco
In 2017, STEM4US! announced plans to form a consortium to push for a $1B grant to build 100+ cybersecurity training centers at community colleges & HBCUs by 2022
Mission
To increase the ranks and diversity of our nation’s cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analytics workforce.
To ensure that at least 50% of cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and data analytics workers in the US are comprised of African Americans, Latinos, and women by 2040
What makes us unique
STEM4US! is the only STEM advocacy group that engages federal and local government leaders with bimonthly, high-profile Capitol Hill policy conversations.
We are focused on helping STEM programs at universities, K-12 schools, and vocational schools succeed by providing funding & technical support.
To date, our programs have helped dozens of universities, schools, and nonprofits.
STEM4US! has supported STEM institutions and educators, benefitting as many as 2 million students.
