STEM4US! appreciates your support for the inaugural STEM & Innovation Congressional Welcoming Reception.
Held in one of Speaker Boehner’s elegant meeting rooms in the US Capitol, Room H137, the event drew around 150 education and innovation leaders to salute Members of the House and Senate Education, Science, and Energy Committees in the 114th Congress.
STEM4US! was honored to co-host this event with some of the top education and innovation leaders in the nation and region including the Edison Electric Institute, Pepco, Thurgood Marshall College Fund, United Negro College Fund, DC Commission on Arts and Humanities, and Duke Energy. The event was moderated by nationally acclaimed author and scholar, Dr. Pamela McCauley, professor, Department of Industrial Engineering and Management Systems at the University of Central Florida. Dr. Jo Handelsman, White House Office of Science, Technology Policy, Associate Director for Science, our keynote speaker, inspired our guests by highlighting the need for our nation to invest more in education, innovation as well as diversity.
Guests also heard from Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan, a member of the House Education & the Workforce Committee, as well as numerous senior congressional aides responsible for education, science, and energy policy making.
To achieve our goal of creating 1 million new STEM professionals by 2022 through linking universities, schools, afterschool programs, and parents to key government and business leaders, we call on you to invest more in 2015 of your time and money in STEM4US!
