On Thursday, April 7, 2016 an audience of congressional staff, tech and energy sector executives, other STEM professionals, policy advocates, educators, and even middle school students packed a room in the Rayburn House Office building for a debate between STEM advisors to Presidential contenders, Senator Bernie Sanders (VT) and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
Debate topics ranged from funding to HBCUs and other institutions that serve underrepresented groups to green energy tax credits. All leading Presidential candidates were invited to participate in this power lunch discussion, but only the Sanders and Clinton campaigns elected to participate. Nevertheless, we intend to continue outreaching to all Presidential and Congressional campaigns during this election season to ensure that STEM funding is on the top of their agendas.
This debate could not have been possible without the support of our partners Baxter Healthcare, Pepco (an Exelon Company), and Sheila Durant.
To hear first hand the blow by blow of the only STEM debate (at least thus far) of the Presidential season,
